關於汽車機油的問題 - 機車

一般汽車用的機油能不能用在機車上，

這問題在這板上問了很久，正反兩派都各有擁護者，

姑且不討論溼式離合器的擋車或類似結構的機車，

就以引擎結構與一般汽車相仿的4T速客達來討論，

支持的理由大概就是：結構相仿、活塞速率沒有差很多。

反對的理由大多是：機車轉速高、沒有JASO認證...等等


我的理性告訴我，證據會說話，我支持然後問廠商。

第一封：SHELL 荷蘭總公司

我說：
I bought two boxes "Helix HX7 10w40" and "Helix Ultra 5w40".
I have a scooter. This manual states need "SAE 10w40 API SJ" or more.

I was wondering whether my Scooter can used The two motor oils ,
And without any worries ?

Why I ask so is because Taiwanese technicians said scooters must use
Motorcycle Oil (meet JASO MA/MB?) , otherwise it will fail.
( but this is a scooter ,not motorcycle .)

註：Helix就是Shell給一般汽車用的，他家有出motorcycle跟Scooter的油。

SHELL回覆：
It depends on the construction of the scooter.
Most bikes and scooter use the same oil for the lubrication of the engine AND
also for the gear box (where passenger cars have a separate oil carter for
engine oil and gear box oil).
Gear boxes are very “sensitive” towards the friction coefficient of the
oil. If this is not the correct level, switching gears will be to “brutal”
or they will slip.

Because passenger car engine oils don’t have to lubricate gearboxes, there
is no additive added to optimize the friction coefficient.
In bike and scooter oils, there is a special additive added to make the
friction coefficient adapted for the smooth working of the gear box.
The API specification only takes care of the engine oil specifications. The
Jaso takes account of engine AND gearbox lubrication.

So in answer to your question :
If the engine and gear box lubrication is using 1 oil (in most cases), it’s
better to use dedicated oil for bikes : in this case Shell Advance 4T Ultra
10W40. Using Helix will have an influence on smoothly switching gears. This
oil is JASO specified.

If the engine oil is separate from the gearbox lubrication, Helix is fine.

我說：
因為某些因素我不方便更換所謂的機車用機油，車子是豪邁奔騰，
手邊現有的是Shell helix HX7 10W40，一般會給汽車用，
它符合手冊上要求的SAE 10w40 API SJ或更高等級的油，
請問我照著手冊要求的更換機油應該沒有問題吧
